The peak has superior significance to the Sherpas in the Khumbu Valley. The name of the peak ‘Ama Dablam’ has a special meaning.  Ama Dablam means a ‘Mother’s Necklace’; which looks like the long ridges on each side of the mountain like the arms of a mother (Ama) protecting her child. Also, the hanging glacier believed of as the Dablam - the traditional double-pendant containing pictures of the gods which is worn by Sherpa women.

The striking Ama Dablam is the third most prevalent Himalayan peak allowed for excursions. The most popular route to reach the summit by far is the Southwest Ridge which is not only incredibly picturesque but is a world-class alpine route due to its ease of access, sound rock and truly spectacular summit day on steep and exposed snow slopes.

Mounting the Ama Dablam mount is indeed a very challenging mission. The climbing is befitting for technically oriented climbers however is never extreme.
