Mount Kailash Overland Tour-13 Days

Today, after a quick breakfast, we travel to several locations in the Kathmandu Valley. Our very first destination will be Guheswori Temple, one of the holiest temples, which is located 1 km to the east of Pasupatinath on the bank of the Bagmati River. You will visit Pashupatinath Temple, worship Lord Shiva, and gain a deeper understanding of the Hindu culture. Then, we will make a quick drive to the Boudhanath Stupa. Wander the Tibetan-style streets of Boudhanath and sample some local cuisine before arriving at the Jalnarayan Temple (Sleeping Vishnu, Budanilkantha), which is a 45-minute drive away and extends into Shivapuri National Park, where you can worship Lord Vishnu and then be taken to your hotel. At the hotel, an evening trip briefing with our travel professionals will be conducted post dinner.

After breakfast, we will travel in a private vehicle for approximately six hours to Syaprubesi. The road is lined with cities and terraced farmlands, which is a great opportunity to learn more about Nepal's steep terrain, explore Syaprubesi and get a feel for their way of life. Take as many breaks as you can because we need to begin our walking excursion the following day.

After breakfast, we will board a tourist bus and start traveling along the newly opened friendship bridge at the Nepal-Tibet border. We will reach Kerung, the first village in Tibet, in around two hours. We will then take a stroll in the village and observe the scenery. For the night, we will be resting at Kerung.

We'll take a wonderful black-topped road across the steep hills to get to the town of Saga. The path ascends and descends the hills of Thong La and La Lung before getting us comfortably to the town of Saga. We'll stop at Lake Peikutso and see how the Tibetans still graze their yaks and sheep along the way. Once we reach Saga, We will rest in a local guest house overnight.

After breakfast this morning, we'll travel to the highest freshwater lake in the world. At a height of 4558 meters, the holy lake of Mansarovar, which is a greenish-blue color, may be found. According to legend, Lord Bishnu once rested by the lake. It is surrounded by Mount Kailash, Mount Gurula-Mandala, and Lake Rakshasa. The people think Lake Rakshasa's water is poisonous because the dreadful King Ravan is thought to have produced the body of water. After we reach Manasarovar we will all rest and eat. We will only visit the holy lake of Mansarovar tomorrow morning.

Visiting the holy lake of Mansarovar will allow us to fully immerse ourselves in the religious hues today. Then we'll proceed to Darchen's village and carry out a few ceremonies. Along the way, we will be able to glimpse the holy Mount Kailash. Lhara was the former name of Darchen. The settlement is situated immediately in front of the revered Mount Kailash. After reaching Darchen we have our dinner and spend the night there.

Early morning post breakfast, we'll take a car to Tarboche, a tiny settlement. Tarboche is the starting point of the Kailash Kora. The entrance of the god of death, Yamadwar, is located at Tarboche. We will travel a few hours from here to the town of Derapuk, which is situated in front of the north face of Mount Kailash. Today will offer excellent views of the Gurla-Mandala, Ape, Kamet, and other lofty peaks.

The longest and most challenging day of the Kailash Kora journey is today. We'll ascend Drolma La, the highest pass in the region, to reach Juthulpuk in the morning time. We'll first head to Jarok Donkhang, a tiny Tibetan community. Then we will climb across to the Shiva-tsal. Before being reincarnated, it is stated that people in Shiva-tsal experience a symbolic death. They are claimed to be reincarnated once they reach the top of the Drolma La Pass. Here, we'll take a little break before making the steep descent to the banks of the Lham-chu Khir River. Following the river, we will arrive at the Khando Sangam La, which has Mount Kailash on its eastern flank. Ultimately, we will reach the town of Juthulpuk. The famous Juthulpuk Cave also called the Miracle Cave, serves as the inspiration for the place's name. Along the road, we'll be able to see the Buddha's footsteps. Following this same way we reach Zuthulpuk.

The morning will be spent discovering the caves and temples surrounding the Milarepa grotto, Zuthulpuk. After breakfast, we'll climb for three to four hours to complete our Kailash Kora and head back to the town of Darchen. There, we'll have lunch before heading back to Saga village.

We'll travel back to Kerung at a leisurely pace after early morning breakfast. We will have some leisure time as we make our way along a paved route. On reaching Kerung, we'll relax for the remainder of the time and rest at Kerung overnight.

Following the same route we traveled before, we will cross the Nepal-Tibet border and return to Kathmandu. After reaching Kathmandu, a farewell dinner will be hosted by Trekkers Nepal in a Nepalese restaurant. Post dinner, you can choose to wander through Thamel. Similarly, you can also visit some popular sights in the valley of Kathmandu at night.

Today, a Trekkers Nepal employee will deliver you to Tribhuwan International Airport and bid you farewell. Today marks the end of your journey, as you will be heading home.
