As your journey starts you come across a few ethnic groups like Gurung and Magar whose unique culture and warm hospitality will amaze you. They are one of the bravest tribes among Gurkhas.

If you trek to Poon Hill during the springtime, you can see rhododendron in full bloom. Machhapuchre acts as a guiding star in the initial stage of the route. In order to cover this route first, we drive to Pokhara and then to Hille. Our hiking then begins from here and for those who are just trekking for the first time, this is a perfect route. Our experienced and well-trained guide will make your trip safe and memorable. All expenses regarding food and lodging will be included in the package.

Details for Poon Hill Trek Route

During the hike venture as you go deep into the wilderness, you will get stunned by settlements where some of the houses are made of stones and earth that exist there for many centuries. The remote area and desolate places will make you wonder how people have been living in these places for a very long time.

The route is ideal, short, and easy so it becomes convenient for trekkers of any age group to trek in Nepal. Besides, you will walk through terraced paddy fields, lush rhododendron, and pine forest. Since no modern transportation is available in this area gather new experiences by watching mule train. You can even stay at local teahouses run by respective families. Watch the sunrise panorama over the famous Annapurna chain from Poon Hill (this point leads the trail to Annapurna base camp) which is the most famous viewpoint in the Annapurna area.

Enjoy the close-up view of the snow-capped peaks. The trip also consists of walking through stone steps, mud and stone cottages, and ancient mountain trails. You will also come across a place called Ghanddruk which is a typical Gurung village.

Itinerary

Our staff will be keenly waiting for you at the airport with your name on a placard. After legal formalities at the airport, our staff will reach you at the hotel where you can rest after a long flight. In the evening briefing sessions are done by our well-trained guide. Then you can rest and prepare for the next day.
The drive starts early in the morning. As soon as we leave Kathmandu valley a serpentine road following downhill will be met. As you travel you will be astounded to find the scenic beauty along the way. On approaching Pokhara the terrain appears flat. After reaching Pokhara first you will be transported to the hotel. Since the lake of this place is famous in the country you can relax within the periphery or go boating as well. This place is also a tourist hub.
We take a jeep to Hille and the drive is going to be adventurous. Till Naya Pul(new bridge) the road is smooth but after crossing the bridge the thrill begins, it's totally off-road. On reaching Hille we get off and then the hike starts. This is one of the toughest trails in the entire route since it consists of carved steps on the side large hill from Tikhedunga. The hike begins with the path winding the countryside green with grass and other vegetation. Since the entire trek falls within the Annapurna conservation area you will find many Gurung and Magar villages. Then we reach Ulleri at the end of the first day of hiking.
This part of the trail especially during spring is blissful since you can witness red and pink rhododendrons bloom. Take small breaks in between so that you enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding with Annapurna peak and range complimenting. After a couple of hours of walking, you reach the entrance of Ghorepani where permits are checked. After the legal formalities are over we enter Ghorepani. This place literally means "horse water", during the olden days this place was a mouth-watering hole for horses and mules traveling through old trade routes. This place has a large concentration of Magar. We rest here overnight but if you feel that you are not completely exhausted go to Poon Hill and enjoy the sunset.
Wake up before daybreak and walk to Poon Hill in order to enjoy the wonderful sunrise. Then get a 360-degree view of the area and watch the transformation of the landscape as the ray of sunlight strikes. The color changes of the snowy peak are mesmerizing to observe and this is the highest point of the trek. We gradually decline to Tadapani via Banthanti village, on the way we pass Deurali Danda from here the view of Annapurna is breathtaking. Then we reach a village right at the foot of Machhepuchre, with colorful prayer flags and humble people we stay overnight at Tadapani.
Leaving Tadapani we hike through the Himalayan wilderness. On the way, we come across beautiful landscapes where we will take pictures since this trip can be a memory of a lifetime. After hiking for almost 3 hours we reach a Gurung village where we stop for lunch and explore the village since it is a traditional Gurung Heritage village. As we descend on the way we will meet many cheerful passersby. Eventually, we reach Kimchi which ends the hiking day, and boards a vehicle back to Pokhara. After driving for a couple of hours we reach Pokhara. In the evening you may relax near the lakeside.
Carrying beautiful memory of the trip we return to Kathmandu. On the way, you will see many perennial big rivers that are fed by the Himalayan glaciers. Finally, after reaching Kathmandu you can take a rest or visit local markets like Thamel where you can purchase souvenirs.
Ultimately your time has come to leave the Himalayan country. With a heavy heart, our staff will reach you at the airport. If you have enjoyed and liked the trip please do visit us again.
