Pikey Peak Trek

On Day 2, you begin your trek to reach the trailhead, Phaplu (2,413 m), via 7 to 8 hours of jeep ride to cover a distance of 260 to 270 KM. As your jeep journey starts after breakfast, wake up early and have breakfast while being prepared. The journey starts from your hotel, where you leave the valley crossing Bhaktapur to reach Dhulikhel via Araniko Highway and then catch BP highway to reach Khurkot. From Khurkot, you cross the Sunkoshi river and travel alongside the river to reach Ghurmi, Salleri, and then Phaplu. Expect a beautiful scenario of riverside settlements, terraced farmlands, and lush green hills, and also expect bumps, narrow roads, and curves during the journey. As you reach Phaplu, check in to your hotel, unpack, and have dinner. Overnight stay at Phaplu.

Today your actual trek starts as you start walking from Phaplu to reach Junbesi (2,700 m) after breakfast. The trek today is moderate, where you walk crossing the Junbesi Khola suspension bridge, mani walls, and traditional sherpa villages. You will also navigate through thick green forests, small settlements, oak forests, and terraced farms, making your journey even more exciting and memorable. After walking for an average of 5 to 7 hours, you cover the distance of 11 to 13 Km to reach the beautiful village of Junbesi. Junbesi is a popular stop that serves as a peaceful retreat and popular stop for Pikey Peak and Everest Base Camp travelers. The village is also home to the 400 years old Junbesi Monastery, Thupten Choling Monastery, and the Chiwong Monastery. As you reach Junibesi, you check in to your place of accommodation and have lunch. If you are interested, you can also hike to nearby monasteries and end the day with dinner at your accommodation.

Day 4 takes you to Lamjura village (3,500 m), a high mountain pass known as Lamjura La or Lamjura Bhyajyang in the Everest Region. After an early breakfast, we will ascend from Junbesi to Lamjura while taking pictures of the stunning scenery. The trails take you across numerous Mani walls and Chortens on the way. Lamjura is home to a historic monastery that we will explore, and we will also take in the stunning vista of Numbur Himal to the north. This trek route will be dusty, but with time it will become cleaner. Also, the view of mountains starts appearing during this route, and gradually you will see the breathtaking mountains. As you move upward, you will trek on a steeper and narrower surface than before. After trekking for 6 to 7 hours from Junbesi, you will reach Lamjura, the overnight stay location of the day.

On the fifth day, we head towards Pikey Peak (4065 m) after breakfast in the morning. You trek across forests full of rhododendron flower blooms (in spring), yak-grazing pastures, and the picturesque views of majestic mountains. The trek route today also crosses several sherpa settlements like Chyangba and Jhapre to reach the Pikey Peak Base Camp (3,640 m). From the base camp, the trek route is a steep climb where you cross a rocky ridge filled with prayer flags. As you gain altitude, the atmosphere opens up and provides a dramatic view of the Himalayas. Once you reach the summit of Pikey peak you are awarded with a close panoramic view of Everest, Makalu, Dhaulagiri, Kanchenjunga, and other mountain ranges. The moment is exciting, making the hike a worthy lifetime moment. After spending a few moments enjoying the beauty from the peak and capturing the memories in Photography and videography, we descend back to Pikey Peak base Camp, the overnight stay location of day 5.

After spending a night at the Pikey Peak Base Camp, today you trek down towards Jhapre (2850). Wake up early in the morning and enjoy breakfast with golden rays of sunlight illuminating the snow-covered mountains. After having breakfast, we continue our journey along a dusty road and through rhododendron forests. The track spreads out to show a grassland with grazing Yaks as we descend from the Pikey Base Camp to Jhapre after crossing a substantial Mani wall. After walking for an average of 5 to 6 hours, you cover a distance of 11 to 14 Km to reach Jhapre, where you have your lunch. If you are interested, you can explore monasteries and stupas, interact with the local Sherpa community, and enjoy the Himalayan panorama. In the evening check in to your accommodation in the evening and have lunch in Jhapre, the overnight stay destination of day 6.

Today is the last day where you trek to reach the Dhap (2,900 m) to cover a distance of 12 to 15 Km in 4 to 6 hours. After breakfast in the morning, the trail leads you via a gentle walk through a peaceful village settlement, terraced farmlands, and beautiful forests. The trail today gives you the perfect last-day experience with an easy and relaxing experience. Passing various Sherpa traditional settlements, prayer walls, mani stones, and monasteries, you reach the Dhap. Dhap is a small but important settlement known as the gateway to Pikey Peak and other trekking routes. You check in to the guesthouse and conclude your trekking journey with relaxation and celebration of trekking success. Enjoy the delicious meal and take enough rest.

The day 8 begins with early morning breakfast at your hotel in Dhap. Your trekking journey actually ends, and you prepare to depart for Kathmandu following a 7 to 8 hour drive. Following your breakfast, prepare for departure by packing your accessories and belongings. Our team receives you at your place of accommodation in Dhap. Board the jeep, and your journey begins the same way you took before to reach the trailhead. Enjoy the beautiful scenario of roadside settlements and the beautiful road of the Midhills. We take a short break for lunch in a suitable place where you can stretch and enjoy the beautiful view of the hills and village settlements. After lunch the journey continues to reach Kathmandu, where you check in to your hotel and join for dinner in the evening.

Today is the 9th day, the ending day where you depart for your home country or destination, leaving Kathmandu. Wake up in the morning, have a hearty breakfast, and prepare for departure according to your flight schedule. If you have enough time, you can go for quick shopping in Thamel to purchase souvenirs. Ensure you have the buffer time to reach the airport, as you are required to reach the airport 3 hours earlier than your actual flight schedule. Our team receives you at your hotel according to your flight schedule and drops you at the departure terminal.
