The mountain was named in the Sherpa language “Ama Dablam” which directly translates to ‘Mother’s necklace’. The reason it was named so is because of the long ridges on each side of the mountain and the glacier in the middle which resembled the traditional necklace worn by Sherpa women ‘Dablam’. Firstly our journey will start from a 40 minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Lukla is home to Tenzing-Hillary Airport which is one the most unique airport in the world. Situated in a steep land , it is a once in a life time experience to land here. After arriving to Lukla, we will be treking to Phakding through dense forest which is filled with pine trees, rhododendron flowers, and a variety of wildlife within Sagarmata National Park. Namche is situated on the slope of an arch-shaped mountain, with amazing views of giant Himalayan peaks from anywhere in the valley. Namche Bazaar still retains its ancient culture, traditions, and heart-warming hospitality even with high influence of tourism and western culture.
After we experience the breathing secnary of Namche, our journey will take us to Deboche which is also home to Tengboche Monastery, known as the ‘monastery on the hilltop.’ We will experience the true beauty once we are above 4000m from sea level. Nepal is truly a spectacle and it’s natural beauty is unparalleled among others. On the following day, we’ll trek from Deboche to Dingboche while passing through small villages, numerous Stupas and mani walls along our journey.
Our journey next will take us to Chhukung. Chhukung is a charming village that boasts stunning views of surrounding mountains, rivers , glaciers. Chuking Ri is a must visit once we reach Chhukung as it boasts breathtaking view of the world’s tallest including Mount Lhoste, Island Peak, Makalu and our destination Ama Dablam.
After spending a day in Chhukung, our path leads us to Lobuche by crossing the renowned kogma La pass, which is considered as one of the most celebrated passes in the Everest region.The trail is challenging but also boasts views of glaciers,lake and Himalayas which makes it a truly unforgettable experience.
While Lobuche is a challenging pass, we will reach to Pangboche which is relatively easier trial. On the way, we may even get a chance to catch a glimpse of yaks grazing and lavish fields which adds to an already magnificent scenery.
Tenth day will be the most exciting day as we arrive at the Ama Dablam Base Camp. Once we reach our base camp, we will finally be able to witness the breathtaking view of the highest mountain like once mentioned above. Ama Dablam is a once in a life time experience which will be contended with the memories of this unforgettable journey.
After enjoying the breath taking view of Ama Dablam, we will continue our journey back to Pangboche towards Namche Bazaar, where we are bound to spend the night. The next day, we will leave Namche and reach Lukla in order to catch flight back to Kathmandu.
On the final morning of our journey, we will board a flight back to Kathmandu, marking the end of our journey but build an unforgettable memory that we experinced from Lukla to Ama Dablam.
