In general, No!!! Beginners making their first journey up close to the mountains are not required permits. However, longer circuit treks, conserved areas and summits require permits for the government.
While long tours and summits require you to be in the best shape, it is generally not the case for beginner and moderate treks. However, people with health conditions and respiratory ailments are requested to exercise a month prior for hiking the mountain trails in Nepal.
Acclimatisation is a must for you, if you don’t come from tundras or mountainous geography, As you tread uphill close to the foothills, the air starts thinning and oxygen level drops, causing altitude sickness in the fittest of people. Hence, we advise beginner and moderate climbers to acclimatise before their trek.
